Wow! Ryan Haczynski, known by students as "H" waited 3 hours in July to audition for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. He's a 32 year old honors English teacher at Durant High School in Plant City, FL. He spent the summer studying a world atlas and astronomy notes from college, just in case!
He was unable to share the outcome with family, friends and students until the show aired. He easily answered some questions while struggling with others. After using all his lifelines, he was asked the final question of the evening for him:
In 1925, dogsledders mushed nearly 700 miles along an Alaskan mailing route to deliver a serum that halted an outbreak of what disease? "H" decides against gambling and walks away with $50,000 in prize money. The show host, Meredith Vieira congratulates him and informs him the answer was "diphtheria."
Congratulations to Ryan Haczynski and his wife! He's planning to spend his winnings on credit cards, car payments, savings and travel.
Ohh, and next year he's planning to audition for Jeopardy!
